Taupiri Community Board
Electing 6 Board Members

COCUP, Sharnay

My principal place of residence is in the Taupiri Community Board area.

I have been raised in the Village for the past 20+ years. I have built and gained a well respected professional reputation in the Taupiri Community built among trust, respect and honesty. I founded the Taupiri Youth Group where the group has been redeveloping and reconstructing the Taupiri mountain walkway. I am asking for your vote for re election to the Taupiri Community Board, I strongly believe having a youth voice on there is very important. I am also on the Taupiri School Board of Trustees, Taupiri Junior Rugby Club Commitee and the Lower Waikato Trout Commitee. I enjoy being a voice for my Community and I enjoy representing the youth and making sure their voices are heard too. Taupiri is very special to me not only is it my home it is the place that has flourished me into the amazing woman I am today.

Please vote for me

HENRY, Jacqueline

My principal place of residence is in the Taupiri Community Board area.

Ngä mihinui kia koutou,
It would be a privilege to represent my community’s best interests.

Taupiri is more than just a home. It is rich in history and a place of cultural significance for those here and far and I have a passion and commitment to my community heading into the future. Born and bred in nearby Waiterimu in a dairy farming family and having lived in the heart of Taupiri nearly 15 years I also have strong ancestral links (through the Haddens and Gentrys) to Taupiri and affiliations to Ngati Wairere and Hukanui marae in Gordonton. I’ve worked in the health and education sectors but now currently work at the Waikato Regional Council as a Senior Social Scientist. Given my upbringing, work experience and current role I certainly feel I have a broad understanding of the challenges facing rural communities and would be honoured to represent your interests.

LOVELL, Dorothy

My principal place of residence is in the Taupiri Community Board area.

My name is Dorothy Lovell and I have lived in Taupiri nearly all my life. I am a strong supporter of local community activities.

Three years ago I was elected on the Taupiri Community Board, during this time I believe the Community Board has been instrumental in growing the community, achievements include; ANZAC day parade, Button Lane going onto Google maps, improved and maintained/repairs to the Parks & Reserves. Taupiri’s footpaths/road frontages. Two Little Libraries have been installed (book exchange).

New Bridge to be started across the Maungawara Stream on Watts Grove – Taupiri/Huntly Expressway public meetings and visits, with information handouts put into local business. Worked with the Hall Committee to improve War Memorial Hall facilities.

I have enjoyed being part of a proactive team that is the Taupiri Community Board, in the challenges presented as they arise, and would like to put my name forward for another term.

I am on the Taupiri School Board of trustees and the school roll has increased three fold during my time there. I have been on the Taupiri Community Board for 12 years continuing to work hard and lobbying for improved services. The village is growing and has immense potential. We need the right people to be the champions of our future. I want to be involved and continue the work I have been doing for our village and the surrounding area. To do this I need your support. I ask you to vote for me to represent you again.

I am Rudy Van Dam, married to Annelies and together we have 4 sons. We have lived and farmed in Taupiri now for 20yrs. We love it here and want to now give back to the community. Taupiri is poised for unprecedented growth. It is ripe for the picking and I would like to help in steering that growth so that the whole community will enjoy the benifit’s that come with growth. I will put my energy into job creation so that our youth may have opportunities. I would like Taupiri to be eco-friendly and will work on implementing an enviromental sustain-ability plan for the town. We must continue to look after the elderly and our youth. This will define who we are and what we stand for. God bless you all. Rudy
