Raglan Ward Electing 1 Councillor

AMOORE, Dennis
Independent

My principal place of residence is in the Raglan Ward area. I am also standing for Raglan Community Board.

I am standing for councillor as I believe that WDC need more experience in governance, business, finance and project management on Council. As a past General Manager and Director of Projects for a multinational company I can bring some of these skills to council.

We need efficiency in council, the exponential growth in rates has to stop. WDC must develop diversity, innovation and creative ideas in its people. It must consider both rural and urban requirements.

Council needs to look to foster and empower the local communities within their competencies to achieve community sustainability. At same time Council must stand up and take responsibility for the major infrastructure projects.

My priorities are to foster community ownership of small projects, minimise rates increases, review benefits of contracting services, at same time ensuring our rural people our elderly and our youth are heard and catered for in our community.

HOLL, Matt

I have lived in Raglan for approximately 40 years. I served as Raglan Ward Councillor; Waikato District during two terms and a couple more as Community Board member. I will initiate more training for Community Boards and new Councillors.

Key contributions I will make as Councillor are the resolution of the more simple town and rural areas’ conflicts and a tightening of project governance and oversight.

Some conflicts include safety and efficiency getting to, from, and around schools, (parking, roads and footpaths), a locally driven structure plan for Raglans’ commercial centre including parking, getting more basics of rural roads on track, and an informed community making informed decisions.

I facilitated the first meeting of the 2001 Raglan Naturally plan, a process I initiated, and more recently put together the resolutions and process to save the Raglan Club and Bowling Club.

Kia ora koutou,

I am seeking your support for re election as Raglan Ward Councillor. I love this place we call home – it is truly unique, encompassing both rural and residential communities.

Over the last three years I have actively worked on a number of key issues for our community. These have including upgrading our wastewater system and minimising overflows into our waterways. I have worked in collaboration with the Community Board on all issues including the revitalisation of our Raglan Naturally community plan and the Council Blueprinting process.I am on the Whaingaroa Raglan Affordable Housing Project committee. This is a crucial issue for our community.

There is much more to do and I feel privileged to serve our community.
